Backstreet Boy Nick Carter has to make a decision, Virgin Employees say "N’Sync are very unkind,"
and Nas stays put at Columbia Records.

While the Backstreet Boys prepare to release a new album, Nick Carter has his eyes set on a debut solo release for October. According to our sources Nick has been asked to shelve his album or hit the road. "He’s torn up about it," a close insider tells us, "he really believes in this album, and wants their support." The 22-year-old also has plans to record a duet with Britney Spears. Many feel Spears is making the recording as a stab in the back to ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake. "While there may be animosity in the air, Nick and Britney are great friends and I think this would have happen with or without Justin," according to the insider. Just a reminder: Nick Carter and Justin Timberlake are expected to release their albums less than a month apart. Hopefully the rest of the Backstreet team will allow this one to play out.

N’ Sync has visited New York’s Virgin Megastore many times in the last few years but not once have they been greeted with a healthy welcome from the employees, "Justin has an attitude problem," says one source. Complaining seems to be the consistent story among the employees, "need more water, need more light, need more make-up. They make me sick," says another source. I hope this is just one bad day in the world of N’ Sync. In their defense, Miss Blabba Mouth has always been in their presence on their good days and I hope this is just a jealous employee and a good friend following them up.
Murder Inc., who has not been making a good name for themselves with much hoopla over their treatment to Ashanti, and recently Toni Braxton. Word had hit the streets of a Nas takeover. While Murder Inc. claims the artist is close to signing a deal any day now, the artist’s label Columbia claims, "Nas will remain a Sony artist."…Speaking of Ashanti. The songtress is close to signing on to her first movie role. She wants to follow in the footsteps of Mandy Moore, and Beyonce’ Knowles…Britney Spears has been the bearer of bad jokes and malicious behavior by others in the last few months. It’s time we recognize her contribution to the music industry. Here is a woman who was among the group who brought pop music back to the scene. Whether we bought it or not, I’m sure many of us has nodded their head to a few Britney tunes from time to time. In the words of Whitney, "it’s not right, but it’s ok."
