Spears’ label find story far-fetched. Wacko Jacko pay to shut last kid up?
Is Lauryn Hill planning a huge comeback this fall?

Britney Spears announced yesterday that she will be canceling the remaining 35 dates of her Onyx Hotel tour. The singer was injured on the set while filming a video for “Outrageous” and, according to a statement released by her label, Jive Records, “Ms. Spears will be immobile for six weeks, with her knee in a hard brace. This will be followed by a minimum of 8-12 weeks of rehabilitation.” According to sources at Jive, the extent of the injury is being over-estimated. “She has been begging Jive and her management to take her off this tour since March,” (a story reported here and in other media outlets). “I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s home with her new boyfriend on her way to a tennis game,” the source added. The singer’s new disc, In The Zone, has sold more than two million copies since it was released in the U.S. last November.

Court TV’s Diane Dimond has acquired a copy of a report detailing the final settlement Michael Jackson made to the boy who accused him of molestation a decade ago. The January 1994 document indicates that Jackson set up a trust fund worth more than $15 million dollars and paid little boy blue more than $1 million up front. While some are speculating whether this will negatively impact Jackson’s defense, others, including Fox News’ Roger Friedman, have pointed out that few copies of the settlement exist and some suspect that either district attorney Tom Sneddon (who is known to have a personal vendetta against Jackson) or attorney Larry Feldman (who represented the accuser then and also represents the current accuser) might have leaked the papers to Dimond, who also seems more interested in making news than reporting it.

Lauryn Hill seems to be planning a big return to the music biz. Sony employees say that the singer has been in contract negotiations and is planning to release a new album by November. The album is expected to boast contributions from Mary J. Blige, Beyoncé, and might include a reunion with Wyclef Jean. In other album news, Chanté Moore has signed with Jive and is planning to release a new album in early 2005. The singer says that she hopes to have a single out by fall and looks forward to working with husband Kenny Lattimore again.

Paris Hilton was recently seen leaving a recording studio in LA. The sometimes singer is almost six months behind on her debut album... Bobby Brown was spotted at a NYC hotel without Whitney Houston. Isn't he still on parole?...What is really going on with Nick Cannon and Christina Milian.
