has been longed rumored that Will Smith was interested
in remaking, "A Star Is Born," and was looking
forward to starring with Jennifer Lopez. The sexy
actress turned tune carrier has been busy for months
with other projects. Industry insiders agree alike that
Lopez is just not fit for the role, "This is total
marketing. It almost makes me sick to my stomach that someone
with her lack of vocal talent would even consider this role,"
according to an insider. While another source adds, "When
someone like Jennifer tries to fit the shoes of Barbara
Striesand, it is time to realize the music industry has
hit an all-time low." The harsh reality is that Jennifer
and Will would have to rework the story line to substitute
her talent or lack there of, or maybe have Jennifer lip-synch.
What a slap in the face that would be?
J Records & Arista has sent two divas back to the lab.
Clive Davis and the J Records team may push Monica’s
album back to next year. The first two singles, "All
Eyez On Me," and "Too Hood," have failed
at radio, and a video has yet to be shot for the latter.
The album on the other hand seems to be a hit with critics
but J has been having a hard time with setting up a first
single. I hope Monica "Ain’t Gon’ Cry,"
and J Records "You Should’ve Known," what
two singles to go with.
Whitney, Whitney, Whitney has also been sent back
to record three more songs along with Jimmy Jam & Terry
Lewis and Irv Gotti at the request of L.A. Reid. The video
for the US failure, "Whatchalookinat," has been
shot for overseas viewers but Arista was planning to set
up, "Tell Me No," as the next single stateside.
With her re-entry into the studio and her need to cancel
appointments who knows if the album will drop in November
or be pushed back to January.
Guesswhat Bits & Pieces: India.Arie was
recently in New York promoting her new album and has let
go of the bitterness of her Grammy loss. She looked so beautiful
on her press day and her new video, which you can see right
here at Groovevolt.com (watch
it first, India.Arie "Little Things," in
Videotech), is absolutely gorgeous You Go Girl!!!…Internet
rumors are spreading that Britney may sue Mr. Timberlake
for slander because of a statement he made on Hot 97 early
last week. This could really get ugly but devilishy funny
