Cantrell is back on the music scene with her sophomore album,
Bittersweet. She found huge success with her first single,
"Hit'em Up Style (Oops!)." Now, Blu explains what to
expect on this new album. "It's a second chapter to the first
album," she said. "I think anyone who loved the first album is
going to love this new album. I made the album to make sure the
fans got what they expected. There's something on there for everyone.
There's some up tempos, there's some ballads, and it's a great
album."
The lead single, "Breathe," features Sean Paul, who
is in big demand. "We were the first people to do a duet
with Sean Paul," Cantrell explained. "It just didn't get out till
later. I always wanted to work with him. I thought he was excellent.
I could already see where he was going to go. Let's get him before
everyone else does. He's a really sweet guy, attractive and very
nice."
Working with people and building relationships is what the music
industry is all about, "I get along with everybody," she
said. "Everyone's friends with me. If you don't like me it's cause
you're hating. I get along with Lil Kim, Monica. I'm not insecure
if you're selling more albums than me or if you're more popular
than me. That means nothing to me. I would like my career to build
I don't want to be just blown up all at once. I want it to be
a consistent build. That's what my goal is. I get along with everybody
and would like a chance to work with people I met along the way."
