When Volume 2 of the One Tree Hill soundtrack, Friends With Benefit, hits store shelves February 7 via Maverick Recordings February 7, the disc will do more than promote the WB Network’s successful drama.
The show’s latest crossover element hopes to benefit the show’s core demographic – young women – directly by promoting early detection of breast cancer.
On the show, a regular character’s birth mother is battling breast cancer and the duo begin working on a compilation CD to benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. That CD becomes a reality with the release of Friends With Benefit, the second One Tree Hill soundtrack album.
"The people who have spent their lives fighting this disease tell us that early detection is immensely important. We have an audience of young girls and women and selfishly, we'd like to keep them alive and healthy for years to come," One Tree Hillcreator and executive producer Mark Schwahn said.
The album will feature tracks from Nada Surf, Feeder, Audioslave, Gavin DeGraw, Tyler Hilton, Jimmy Eat World, Fall Out Boy, Shout Out Louds, Citizen Cope, Hot Hot Heat and others.
The National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. (NBCF) is a nonprofit, charitable foundation that provides breast cancer education and funding for free mammograms for underserved women. Learn more about NBCF at www.nationalbreastcancer.org.
